San Jose, Borbon, Cebu — December 27, 2025
The mountain barangay of San Jose was filled with warmth and gratitude today as Healing in Harmony, a coalition of 24 New York–based organizations, continued its Christmas relief goods distribution. Partnering with Blasert Force 568 Inc., the initiative brought much-needed cheer to residents who have endured months of hardship.
Just three months earlier, on September 30, 2025, a powerful 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck the region, leaving homes damaged and families shaken. The disaster was followed by hundreds of aftershocks—still felt to this day—and compounded by subsequent typhoons that battered the community, bringing untold damage and trauma. For many residents, the scars of these calamities remain fresh.
Against this backdrop of adversity, today’s event was more than a distribution of goods—it was a symbol of hope. Children’s laughter rang out as they clutched food packages and holiday treats, their smiles a stark contrast to the fear they had endured in recent months. Parents exchanged grateful glances, visibly moved by the generosity extended to their remote sitio.
“We never thought we would be remembered after everything we’ve gone through,” shared a resident, holding her youngest child close. “This gift means we can celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy.”
Barangay Kagawad Jesus Villamor also attended the activity, expressing his deep appreciation to Blasert Force 568 Inc. for its concern toward communities like Sitio Sta. Cruz. He highlighted not only the relief distribution but also the group’s support in conducting PDEA’s drug abuse prevention education---done by Blasert Force 568 Inc.'s Founder & Chairman, Achilles ‘Kit’ Coronel---, which he described as vital for strengthening resilience and safeguarding the youth. “Blasert Force 568 Inc. has gone out of its way to show us that we are not alone,” Villamor said. “Their efforts remind us that rebuilding is not just about houses—it’s about hearts, families, and futures.”
The event concluded with scenes of camaraderie: children playing in the open field, elders sharing stories of survival, and volunteers embraced by the community’s gratitude. For San Jose, Borbon, this Christmas will be remembered not only for the packages received but for the reminder that compassion can heal even the deepest wounds.
