Typhoon Kristine may have long been gone but the damages it inflicted on our roads & infrastructure networks and the thousand communities affected by it remain. Such widespread devastation prevented the transport of relief goods coming from the National Capital Region (NCR) into reaching its intended beneficiaries in the Bicol Region. The DSWD's option was to source its relief goods requirements from the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) based in Mandaue City, Cebu.
To-date, around 300,000 family food packs were already sent to the local DSWD & LGUs in Bicol resulting in a shortage of available food packs from VDRC. This needs urgent replacement which created supply & logistics problems for VDRC. From raw materials sourcing to logistics, production, manpower requirements, the tasks at hand seemed insurmountable. VDRC, thru its Administration Officer V, Engr. Romnick Emmanuel Balasabas scrambled to address these issues. Blasert Force 568 Inc. was amongst the groups Engr. Romnick tapped to lend a helping hand.
Fortunately for Blasert Force 568, it was able to obtain full support from the Cebu City Police Office - Advisory Group for Police Transformation & Development (CCPO-AGPTD) mainly thru the efforts of its Chairperson, Mrs. Marlinda Angbetic-Tan. Blasert Force 568 Founder & Chairman, Kit Coronel quickly assembled a team to rise to the occasion and face the challenges. Members from the Blasert Force 568 together with the two (2) Son-oc Homeowners Association (SHOA) Board members and five (5) Army Reservist Trainees from the Visayas Command, bonded together and participated in the relief goods repacking operations earlier today, 31 Oct. 2024 at the VDRC.
Many thanks to all those who participated to this urgent operation, most especially for the full support given by the CCPO-Advisory Group (thru its Chairperson) and to Barangay Lahug for logistics and mobilization. Special mention to Blasert Force 568 Son-oc (Lahug) Base Commander, BF CMS Paquito Campomanes who took time off from his business and offered to bring the troops to VDRC warehouse with his vehicle.
For sharing our efforts, we live by the motto: We share because we care! Thank you everyone!
